Family Court is the one court where the public is likely better informed than reporters covering family court related murders.
Although Family Court is the nation's largest, busiest court; media coverage is generally limited to scrambling after custody battles end in murder and murder-suicides.
Reporters would become better informed by contacting litigants, rather than attorneys, and certainly not Public Information Officers. Attorneys maintain "the best interests of the children are paramount" and the stage is set for a continuing series of misinformation. Nothing could be further from reality, but deadlines mean these well-honed myths continue.
Typically, when a reporter does begin to understand, the reporter correctly says something to the effect of, "Well, this is very interesting for an investigation, but I'm on deadline with a part of the story now."
This is true. Unfortunately however, the investigations never come. As such, the cycle continues with the next set of horrific, preventable murders....and the underlying reasons are seldom if ever examined.
